1. General Conduct: A clean and tidy car fitted with dual-controls will be used for course training days. The car will be insured as a driving instructor’s vehicle. Any claims made as the result of an accident will be restricted to the terms of the car insurance policy which is current at the time of the incident. The course is based on a one to one basis and the course cannot be transferred to a third party.
2. Qualifications: DSA Approved driving instructors (ADI) have been Criminal Record Bureau checked. In addition agree to abide by the conditions of the DSA, IAM and DIA Professional code of conduct.
3. Training Course Materials: DSA information should be revised with other information on the DSA website. You will be advised to review the information i.e. Show Me Tell Me questions: - www.gov.uk/driving-test/what-happens-during-test and certain other materials during your course that would be useful to you.
4. Driving Licence and your eyesight: - You must hold a provisional or full current and valid driving licence. Details of your licence need to be reviewed by the instructor on the first day of training. You must be able to read a vehicle registration / new style number plate at a distance of 20 meters (20.5m for old style number plates) with you glasses if necessary.
5. Payment: a deposit is to be made by bank transfer on booking a course. The remainder of the course fee is to be made to the instructor on the first day of the course in CASH or four (4) working days by bank transfer in advance of the course start date. Please note: the deposit fee is non-refundable in the event you decide to cancel the training. If during the course you decide to cancel the course you will not be reimbursed (but digression of the instructor is allowed) Late payments could terminate the course arrangements. Prices for intensive courses published are correct at the time of going to press and are subject to change. Paid course fees will not be increased during the agreed course time frame - this does not in any way affect your statutory rights to be provided with the goods and services paid for.
6. Cancellation: 48hrs (2 days) notice is required by email before your course starts for any reason during your course. Thereafter, any day during the course, should you decide to cancel you could lose that days course fee. The instructor will have the right to postpone any part of the course due to bad weather if deemed unsuitable or dangerous. Termination: Any abusive or foul language will not be tolerated and the course will be terminated without notice.
7. Your Driving Test: Driving test dates should be booked with guidance from your instructor. Driving test bookings are always given priority over other course days. Changes to a booked day may result in rearranging a part of your course day. You will be notified within 24hrs. Use of the car can be withdrawn if you are not competent to drive in a safe and controlled manner or deemed as actually or potentially dangerous. No course fee will be refunded under these circumstances, and paid test fees cannot be refunded. Please note: The DSA requires three clear working days notice of a cancellation of your test. Failure to provide the required notice will result in the loss of your test fee. The instructor cannot be held responsible for any postponement or cancellation of tests by you or the DSA for any reason.
8. Punctuality: You are advised to be punctual on each occasion during your course training and on your test day. Normally the instructor will wait for you for 10 minutes after that time period your course fee for that day will be forfeited. Any course time lost due to the instructor arriving late or unable to attend a course will be made up either at the end of a normal course day if possible or added at a later date during the course.
9. Learner Comfort and Safety Suitable footwear - flat thin soled shoes are advised with appropriate clothing that does not restrict free and easy movement. The instructor must be informed of any medication that you are taking that may affect your ability to drive. Rest breaks during the course will be decided on at the time between the instructor and pupil. As a general rule 30 minute breaks every two hours are arranged. Rest break periods are not charged to you.
10. Privacy: It must be understood and acknowledged that personal data will be held in connection to the terms and conditions.
11. Penalties: Whenever you are driving the school car and are under supervision either by the instructor or by a DSA driving examiner I cannot be held responsible for any infringement of the law. For example, if any fines are incurred and will you will be responsible
12. Complaints: In the event of a complaint during the course I will make all efforts to resolve the problem directly. However, please inform me either directly or via email as soon as possible so a solution can be found.
13. Your statutory rights - These terms and conditions will not infringe your statutory rights. If you have any doubts about your statutory rights please contact your local Trading Standards Department or Citizen's Advice Bureau.
